Reviews

Cottage is a real home from home. Everything you will need for a great holiday and great views. We will be back.

Mr Ian B,

Castle Green is a delightful property to holiday in, provided that you have the fitness to manage the hills and lanes of the Village. We benefit from hiring a boat from Fowey River Boat hire (Maurice Hunkin), and this enables good access to Fowey and the river area without the challenge of driving the car around the Cornish Lanes. The local office of Cornish Horizons is conveniently sited to resolve any problems that might develop, and this is always a reassurance.

Mr Anthony M,

Property was brilliant and good value for money. I requested an additional night and this was sorted in minutes.

Mr Ian B,

Lovely cottage with beautiful views.

Mr Derek T,

Map

Polruan's position on a headland jutting out into the estuary meant that it once had great importance as a lookout point.  Now, visitors can share the same commanding views from the headland looking out to sea, and across to Fowey on the far bank.

Up here is also the spectacularly beautiful Headland Garden, which has unexpectedly become known for more exotic flora than you might expect to find in this little corner of Cornwall.  This has allowed it to be discovered and promoted far and wide.

While up here, gazing out into the distance, you may spot sea birds and other wildlife, and maybe even the odd seal.  Much of the area is not only an AONB, but also a Special Area of Conservation, so that it can be preserved for future generations.

Like most villages in the area, the primary industry has always been fishing, however the locals are very welcoming to visitors, and tourism has taken its place.

Walkers will find the landscape to be ideal for hiking, or if you prefer just a gentle stroll, there are lots of options available.  Upon your return, you can relax with a meal or drink in The Lugger Inn, or hop on the ferry and visit one of the pubs or cafes in Fowey.
