Description

Verbena is a beautiful Grade II listed 3 story character cottage tucked behind the fire station in West Looe, ideally positioned for exploring Looe with the added bonus of a pre-paid parking space included. Verbena has been lovingly restored and modernised, whilst retaining many of its original character, including feature fireplaces, exposed oak beams and woodwork; looking at it now it is hard to imagine that it was probably once used as a sail loft!  In two of the three bedrooms you will be able to catch glimpses of the harbour.  All amenities in West Looe are close by and the river is just a minute’s walk away.

Mrs Nicky E,

Beautiful cottage in a location close to everything you could possibly need. Loved the stay with my family in verbena. Plenty of room for all 6 who stayed. Would definitely recommend to families. Was lovely to get a take away and all eat together in the comfy and cosy cottage. Perfect break had by all.

Map

The town of Looe has charming narrow streets leading down to a picturesque harbour, and is split into East and West Looe by the river that runs through it, and on down to the beach.  Looe's sandy beach has a little cafe where you can linger over a cup of coffee while people-watching or admiring the view.

There are a number of lovely cafes, as well as restaurants and pubs to choose from, making this a great destination for the foodies among you.  You will have the opportunity to buy freshly-caught fish from the market on the quay, or if you fancy it, go out on a fishing trip to have a go at catching your own!

If you don't fancy fishing, a good alternative boat trip is to Looe Island, where you can find some lovely examples of rare plants, and spot plenty of wildlife, including grey seals and seabirds.  Looe Marine Conservation Group can give you more information about the island and its wildlife.

Looe is said to be a wonderful place to enjoy the New Year festivities, a time when many happy party-goers in fancy dress descend upon the town to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a magnificent display of fireworks.
