The river and sea of course play a major role in the area and there are a host of ways to enjoy them. Take a harbour cruise from the Town Quay in season allowing you to view the town from a different perspective, or for the more adventurous, why not rent a self-drive boat or kayak and explore the estuary at your leisure.

Outstanding property and fantastic service!
This is the third time that we’ve used Cornish Horizons in the last three years and each of the properties that we’ve stayed in has been excellent in respect of cleanliness, standard of decor and location. The website is also one of the easiest to navigate and the staff in the local office are courteous and knowledgeable. The property was extremely clean and tastefully decorated.
This is a very stylish property but not at the expense of comfort! It is extremely well equipped and to a very high standard. At first we were a little apprehensive about the closeness of the apartment to the car park for the Bodinnick Ferry but our fears were unfounded as any early morning noise is not noticed, in fact looking onto the car park and ferry can be quite interesting watching cars and pedestrians navigate their way on and off the ferry. I would like to say that this property was a great place to stay both as a base to visit other parts of Cornwall and the best for access in and out of Fowey as you don't have to fight your way through the one-way system in Fowey town centre. A thoroughly enjoyable stay in a wonderful apartment in a wonderful little Cornish village.
A fantastic property with beautiful decor in a great location.
If you haven't yet discovered Fowey, you've got a treat in store. Full of multicoloured cottages, perched on the hillsides leading down to the sea, this little fishing town has lots to tempt visitors.
There is an entrancing collection of unique local shops and boutiques, along with harbourside cafes, pubs which will give you a hearty welcome and a good atmosphere, and restaurants offering tempting local produce. If you want a unique insight into the local species in these waters, you could visit Fowey Aquarium, whose residents include specimens brought in by local fishermen.
If you're a fan of Daphne du Maurier, you may want to visit the Literary Centre, which gives information and exhibits about the author and her life and work. There is also the Fowey Festival of Words and Music, held in May, in which du Maurier, and many other authors, artists and musicians, are celebrated. Another great spectacle is the Fowey Royal Regatta, held in August.
Fowey lies within one of the many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Cornwall, and the backdrop of the surrounding countryside, with its tidal creeks, rolling fields and rugged cliffs, will make you want to return here again and again.
