Reviews

Lovely little cottage, bed was so comfortable, location was great, clean tidy quirky and everything you could want, would definitely consider going again.

Mrs Danielle M,

We had a great stay thank you!! Porthleven is one of our favourite places to visit .. wonderful walks and food all close by! Our 6th visit to the area and we will be back!!

Mrs A M,

Our first visit to Porthleven & we really loved the area. We will definitely be coming back to Porthleven, as the location was fabulous, lovely walks, nice beaches, good choice of quality restaurants, pubs, shops, and friendly local people.

Mr Mark G,

Quirky and comfortable!

Mrs Margaret H,

Perfect for my needs. Small but fully equipped with everything I needed. Excellent location. As a lone female traveller the cottage felt safe and secure. Tempted to return

Mrs Jill W,

Smugglers Cottage is a fab comfortable little cottage, ideal for two people, very peaceful location but within easy walking distance of various places to eat out, and seconds from the beach. We would definitely stay there again, we also loved that we could take our dog. The service provided by Above Beach Cottages was excellent; booking the cottage on line was very easy and hassle free and the information provided was spot on, we will certainly use them again. Porthleven has a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants and several are dog friendly which is a bonus. It's also on the coastal path and is ideal for walkers. We had a fab time even though the weather wasn't too kind to us!

Mrs Frances W,

Smugglers cottage exceeded all our expectations. It was quirky, cosy, well equipped and we had a wonderful week exploring Porthleven. We parked the car and only used it once when we had a rainy day. We appreciated the welcome gifts and would love to return soon. Sara, Simon and Diesel dog

Mrs Sara W,

What a fantastic cottage, and such a clever use of space. had breakfast on the wonderful terrace several days.

A beautiful cottage in a lovely location. A sea view and 2 mins walk from the harbour where there are lots of restuarants, shops and pubs. The cottage itself is well equiped with everything you need. Lots to do and see in and around Porthleven, so much so that we abandoned the car for the week and went around on foot - a freshing and restful change. Some lovely walks straight from the beach and harbour with beautiful landscape and scenery and if too tired to walk back you can catch the bus! Very highly recommended and we will definitely be booking again.!

A great little cottage - comfy, cosy and equipped with everything that we needed - and more ! Found Porthleven a great place, it has everything:- beach, harbour, and some great pubs and restaurants. Also, a good base from which to explore the Lizard and the coast path. It seems to get better each time, this was our second visit - and won't be our last.!

Thank you so much. We had a wonderful stay. There has obviously been much thought put into the tidying

Sarah Lee, R

Lovely little cottage, just perfect for a Cornish holiday for two. Wonderful to hear the sea at night and whilst here we had blustery conditions and big waves and also calm seas, so the best of both weather. So nice to be able to sit outside of an evening as well. We loved it here!!

Victoria and M

Lovely cottage, good use of the small space. Very lucky with the weather-breakfast outside everyday. Lovely village to potter about in, the car stayed put most days. Thank you!!

Map

Set on the west coast of the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the little harbour town of Porthleven is the quintessential Cornish fishing port. Centred around the harbour, it boasts an array of cafés, restaurants and galleries and exudes a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK, with fishing boats operating out of the harbour. This makes the town a great spot to enjoy some delicious seafood, straight from the fishing boats to the restaurants, it couldn’t be fresher!

Porthleven beach can be accessed from the town itself and provides a long expanse of sand which is separated into segments by several rocky outcrops. While away the glorious summer days relaxing on the beach with a locally made ice cream in hand!

Situated part way along a huge sweeping bay, it faces the Atlantic Ocean and is often on the receiving end of some mighty winter storms! A fabulous destination for a winter break; marvel at the awe-inspiring waves pounding the harbour walls from the cosy safety of the local pub!

The surrounding area doesn’t disappoint either; located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the views from every cove or clifftop are picture-perfect. Travel north-west and you’ll reach Marazion, home of St Michael’s Mount – an absolute ‘must’. South takes you to the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Point, one of Cornwall’s most iconic spots.

You won’t tire of the walks and stunning scenery, but if you fancy a day out, try the Seal Sanctuary, Flambards or Trebah Gardens. Or, go a little further afield and you can explore Penzance, Land’s End and St Ives.
