Truly wonderful Easter Break. First time staying at Haven Cottage and definitely want to come back. Cottage is so well equipped spotlessly clean with a lovely homely feel. Great views especially from the garden terrace.
Thank you! Fantastic weekend, was the hottest we've had. Lovely cottage, well provided for.
Porthleven was a good base from which to drive both to Lands End and the Lizard with plenty to see in both areas.
Had a great stay in Porthleven. Lovely, clean + well equipped cottage in a great location. Very lucky with the weather which enabled us to get out + about a great deal. Recommend 'The Square' if wanting to eat out. Thanks for the use of the cottage and for the 'little extras'.
Another great holiday at Haven Cottage - our fifth! Porthleven
Another perfect holiday in Haven Cottage only this time it was even better being here for two weeks. Neither the cottage or Porthleven ever disappoint - it's like home from home only better with these beautiful views. Weather's been mixed but it hasn't mattered as we've still managed cliff walks in bracing air! As usual we don't want to leave and can't wait to return. Thank you.
As Haven 'regulars' this cottage is home from home. There are so many thoughtful touches. Vicki as usual, leaves everything sparkling clean. Can't write anymore as I'm off to the harbourside to check out today's catch and buy if off the boat!
Had a wonderful holiday; beautiful cottage, you've thought of everything. We would love to come back. Thanks Vicki for your help and the cottage being so clean and tidy on arrival.
Once again we had the most marvellous time at Haven Cottage. The weather was very kind. The new decking at the top of the garden came in very useful and allowed us to splendid afternoons and evenings. We even sat out to enjoy the stars on one warm night. Great fun.
Our first time at Haven Cottage and Porthleven. In fact we haven't visitd Cornwall for 31 years! We've had an absolutely brilliant time! The area is fantastic. Porthleven is a great base to visit other places. The cottage was beautifully clean (thanks Vicki). It has everything we possibily needed. We were especially grateful for the 2 bathrooms! Visited Mousehole, Marazion, Minnack Theatre - great, plus the Lizard. We will be back! Thank you for making our week so restful. We agree with previous guests that The Harbour View Cafe is well worth a visit.
Really enjoyed our stay. A very homely cottage, very clean and well kept, lovely position, beautiful walks straight from the front door. Very easy to get around and visit other areas. Really enjoyed our stay at Haven
There are really no superlatives to add about this lovely holiday cottage, or about Porthleven as a whole. Except to say that (as has been highlighted constantly since 2008 in this visitor's book) what a clean, well presented, well appointed home from home this place is, in the most beautiful location Cornwall can offer! We shall return and can recommend Haven Cottage unreservedly!
This our second stay at Haven Cottage and hopefully not our last - it is just lovely. We have really enjoyed our week here, especially the really rough seas caused by the gale. Thank you again for your great housekeeping and also for the wine and flowers - hopefully be back next year.
We have had a wonderful week at your cottage. Our favourite days out were St. Michael's Mount, The Minack Theatre, Trelissick and coastal walk from Kynance Cove to The Lizard. We have had a lovely time at Haven Cottage. We wish we could come again soon. Thank you for looking after us so well.
We've had a perfect, relaxing winter week. Weather good. We know Porthleven well and love it. Haven Cottage is great. Well equipped, so clean, lovely views - could not wish for better. Thank you for the wine, etc. A really perfect week's break. We hope to return.
Brilliant time thanks. See you next time very soon. Thank you for the wine and chocolate . Mike and Sue
Set on the west coast of the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the little harbour town of Porthleven is the quintessential Cornish fishing port. Centred around the harbour, it boasts an array of cafés, restaurants and galleries and exudes a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK, with fishing boats operating out of the harbour. This makes the town a great spot to enjoy some delicious seafood, straight from the fishing boats to the restaurants, it couldn’t be fresher!
Porthleven beach can be accessed from the town itself and provides a long expanse of sand which is separated into segments by several rocky outcrops. While away the glorious summer days relaxing on the beach with a locally made ice cream in hand!
Situated part way along a huge sweeping bay, it faces the Atlantic Ocean and is often on the receiving end of some mighty winter storms! A fabulous destination for a winter break; marvel at the awe-inspiring waves pounding the harbour walls from the cosy safety of the local pub!
The surrounding area doesn’t disappoint either; located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the views from every cove or clifftop are picture-perfect. Travel north-west and you’ll reach Marazion, home of St Michael’s Mount – an absolute ‘must’. South takes you to the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Point, one of Cornwall’s most iconic spots.
You won’t tire of the walks and stunning scenery, but if you fancy a day out, try the Seal Sanctuary, Flambards or Trebah Gardens. Or, go a little further afield and you can explore Penzance, Land’s End and St Ives.
