Reviews

Great house in a great location.

Mr Stuart Anderson,

Wonderful week in Castaway. Lovely house. Very comfortable and spectacular views.

The Waterman family,

Superb place to stay for Christmas - very comfortable.

The Hewsons,

This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed at Castaway - found property spotlessly clean, everything you could need to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and as other guests have mentioned, a real home away from home. And with a fantastic view of the harbour - just perfect :-)

Louise Keen,

A beautiful house.

Nicola Jones,

Our second visit to this fantastic and beautiful home from home. We all absolutely love it here.

The Andersons,

Professional, honest, trustworthy, friendly and courteous. Old fashioned virtues which accurately describe the experience provided by Above Beach Cottages. First class, thank you.

Mr michael dunn,

Probably the best cottage we have stayed at in over 40 years of visiting Porthleven. Everything is fabulous! Loved sitting on the balcony with a G&T watching the sun go down. Really outstanding cottage!

The Dunn family,

super property, loved it

Mrs Jane Phillips,

What a beautifully stylish property finished to such a high standard. Super layout, love the terraces. Thank you for sharing a stunning property with stunning views. We have already booked to come back next year!

The Jordan family,

This was a beautiful property which could not have been better. Everything was exceptional.

Mr Rod Fricker,

A repeat visit - will do so again.

Mr M Baldwin,

Where to start?! Oh my goodness what a beautiful house - we want to buy it! So perfect in every way, will definitely be back. We all felt so comfortable and relaxed - time off is very precious to us - you have made our stay very special indeed.

The Smiths,

Beautiful well appointed accommodation.

Mrs Angela Shields,

Really comfortable place to stay with good views over the harbour. Great bathrooms and bedrooms and very good kitchen, dining and living area. Our sons enjoyed the table football and Wii in the games room

Mr Paul O'Toole,

Love Castaway our 2nd visit there. Well equipped, fantastic location, very clean, modern and tasteful.

Louise Keen,

Just wanted to say we spent a fantastic week in Cornwall at the Castaway property in Porthleven. The owners have done a great job with the renovation and it felt luxurious as well as light, bright and airy. The views were every changing with spectacular sunsets. A lovely home from home that we would recommend to anyone.

Map

Set on the west coast of the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the little harbour town of Porthleven is the quintessential Cornish fishing port. Centred around the harbour, it boasts an array of cafés, restaurants and galleries and exudes a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK, with fishing boats operating out of the harbour. This makes the town a great spot to enjoy some delicious seafood, straight from the fishing boats to the restaurants, it couldn’t be fresher!

Porthleven beach can be accessed from the town itself and provides a long expanse of sand which is separated into segments by several rocky outcrops. While away the glorious summer days relaxing on the beach with a locally made ice cream in hand!

Situated part way along a huge sweeping bay, it faces the Atlantic Ocean and is often on the receiving end of some mighty winter storms! A fabulous destination for a winter break; marvel at the awe-inspiring waves pounding the harbour walls from the cosy safety of the local pub!

The surrounding area doesn’t disappoint either; located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the views from every cove or clifftop are picture-perfect. Travel north-west and you’ll reach Marazion, home of St Michael’s Mount – an absolute ‘must’. South takes you to the tip of the Lizard Peninsula, Lizard Point, one of Cornwall’s most iconic spots.

You won’t tire of the walks and stunning scenery, but if you fancy a day out, try the Seal Sanctuary, Flambards or Trebah Gardens. Or, go a little further afield and you can explore Penzance, Land’s End and St Ives.
