Description

Elm Cottage is an idyllic Cornish cottage retaining much of its original character alongside all modern conveniences and perfectly placed in the beautiful Cornish country village of St Mawgan. St Mawgan is set in the Lanherne Valley where the river Menalhyl flows through the village which boasts delightful cottages, a 13th Century church, two bridges, a ford and shops.  Enjoy a stroll along footpaths leading through the woods to St Columb or out to the coast at Mawgan Porth. However, a whole day could easily be spent wandering around the village, visiting the Bonsai gardens, the craft shop and possibly watching the local cricket teams play on the village green, finishing off the day with a Cornish cream tea in the tea garden behind the village shop.  Only a few minutes' walk to The Falcon Inn, a gorgeous stone pub with slate floors, an open fire for those winter breaks and pretty gardens to sit in during balmy summer evenings.

Reviews

What a lovely, well equipped cottage. We had a lovely time and look forward to visiting again.

Mrs M,

Elm cottage is set in a beautiful village with a good pub, super village shop/ tearoom and some super walks close by particularly to the amazing Morgan Porth. The cottage is spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with a lovely big TV for relaxing after a busy day.

Mr Phil R,

A lovely cottage in a lovely village and we would return if we ever plan to visit North Cornwall again. Some highlights - the 2 mile walk into Mawgan Porth, Bedruthan Steps and Fistral Beach in Newquay.

Mr R,

Had a great 2 week stay at Elm Cottage. Lovely well equipped, comfortable cottage. Had some great family times at Padstow, Boscastle, Tintagel, Newquay and great beach days at Mawgan Porth and Watergate! Lovely village setting - great pub and food - had a fab time and hope to visit this beautiful area of Cornwall again! Thank you.

Mrs B,

A fabulous stay at Elm Cottage. Very cosy kitchen, lovely rooms and a very friendly neighbour. The local pub and post office was a delight! We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Falmouth, St. Ives and Mawgan Porth beach! Looking forward to coming back next year and fingers crossed we will have the same weather! Thank you

Miss C,

Lovely 'mini-moon' stay, lovely card and wine welcoming us! So thoughtful. Lots of walks, places to explore and thank you for the helpful tips! We had fun!

Ms P,

A beautiful cottage in one of our favorite parts of Cornwall. Love St. Maygan and Mawgan Porth, lots of beach visits and love the Team Rooms just down the hill. Thank you - we had a blast!

Mrs J,

Mr Gary A,

Map

If you're seeking a holiday in the archetypal picturesque country village, St Mawgan is an excellent destination. You can have lunch at the Falcon Inn, a traditional pub with a warm welcome and excellent menu, walk through leafy lanes, past the village green and cricket ground, visit the Japanese Bonsai Gardens and craft shop, and round the afternoon off with a delicious cream tea from the local Post Office and Tea Room.  You would never guess that it's a short drive from the town of Newquay or the nearby airport. Down the road, Mawgan Porth village gives you a complete contrast.  The rugged cliffs that border the sheltered sandy bay invite you to enjoy bracing cliff walks and eye-catching scenery.  If you get tired, you can stop for fish and chips, or a meal at the Merrymoor Inn.  There is also Merlin Golf Club, and a pitch and putt course for those looking for family fun!  The entertainment continues in the summer holidays with Mawgan Porth's Donkey Derby and the annual duck race- choose your (plastic!) duck and join in the fun! Nearby Bedruthan Steps is a further example of the dramatic and spectacular coastline for which the area is renowned.  When you've exhausted yourself with all these possibilities, why not pamper yourself with a luxury spa treatment at either the Bedruthan or Scarlet Hotels - you've earned it!
