Here at Cornish Horizons we love working and living in this picturesque county. We are not just telephone operators in a faceless call centre, we are all local with an enthusiasm for the abundance of things to see and do in our home county.
Each member of staff has written a short piece about their favourite 'horizon' in Cornwall, to give you some idea of some places to go or stay. Feel free to call us anytime and ask for recommendations on things to see and do in the area. We are always glad to help.
"I am lucky enough to work within Team Cornwall"
❤ The Cheesewring on Bodmin Moor
Mild-mannered and reserved, I enjoy knitting and collecting butterflies… only joking! I am lucky enough to work within Team Cornwall and manage to get out & about visiting the smaller offices and helping out where I can. I grew up in the north in a small village on the Pennines and moved to Cornwall for a little adventure many years ago. I worked in hotels initially, a brief move to a very dubious building company gave me a good footing in dealing with complaints!! Onwards to car rental before joining the holiday park industry where I spent many interesting years before ‘upgrading’ to proper accommodation. With two grown up kids at university I now have time to myself for the first time in years and spend a lot of my days off walking around our beautiful county, one of the best views has to be from the Cheesewring on Bodmin Moor.

"My love for the sea and sand brought me and my husband to Cornwall in 2007"
❤ Fistral Beach in Newquay
My love for the sea and sand brought me and my husband to Cornwall in 2007. Having been part of the Cornish Horizons team since 2009, I have a great understanding of the self-catering market and how to do it right. With my husband being a furniture designer/maker, my love and knowledge of beautiful interiors grows every day. My favourite horizon is Fistral beach, Newquay with the back drop of the famous ‘Witches’ Hotel. Watching or being in the sea with my little boy Sennen and dog Bees is where you’ll find me if not at work!
Senior Property Manager
"Since doing this role I really feel like I know Cornwall better than ever."
❤ Helford Passage on the Helford River
My role as Senior Property Manager encompasses three elements I thought I could only wish for in a job: people, property and Cornwall. I love visiting new properties and talking to potential owners and since doing this role I really feel like I know Cornwall better than ever. In my free time I like to walk the South West Coast Path with my husband Bob and our dog Stanley. I particularly like the section from Falmouth – my home town – to Helford Passage on the Helford River. Here the path hugs the coastline and you see many different sailing boats enjoying the calm waters, as well as the occasional military vessel heading into the docks at Falmouth. There are several coves dotted along this coast and when you arrive at Helford Passage, you can treat yourself to a cold drink at The Ferry Boat Inn.
"My love for Cornwall developed in my early years when I would holiday in Treyarnon Bay every summer..."
❤ Gwithian Beach
Although originally from Surrey, my love for Cornwall developed in my early years when I would holiday in Treyarnon Bay every summer with my family. Having lived in the French Alps for two years managing holiday lets, I relocated to Cornwall at the beginning of summer 2016 to pursue my interest in property management. I love the outdoors and going on adventures, so when I’m not in St Ives scoping out new properties, you’ll find me exploring trails on my mountain bike, surfing the waves (rather unsuccessfully) along the north coast or hiking along the coastal paths. My favourite horizon is Gwithian beach, near Hayle. With miles of sandy beaches, great surf and unspoilt scenery, it’s a beautiful place that I always recommend people visit.
" I have recently joined the Cornish Horizons team here in Padstow and can’t wait to start covering the county and seeing some of our beautiful new properties!"
❤ Rock Beach
I have recently joined the Cornish Horizons team here in Padstow and can’t wait to start covering the County and seeing some of our beautiful new properties! I’ve lived in North Cornwall my whole life and despite doing some travelling to exotic places in my youth, I’ve always known my heart is here and understand how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful part of the Country. My parents have always been in the holiday letting business and I’ve always had a keen interest in the industry, so my passion for people combined with my love of Cornwall and property means I’ve achieved my perfect career! In my spare time you’ll find me getting lost in new locations in Cornwall with my family, a walk book and my two small Chihuahua’s and almost certainly ending the walk with a well deserved pub Roast! My favourite Horizon has to be my local Rock beach. The view never disappoints and it helps that it’s where my partner chose to propose!
"I love Cornwall, especially its ruggedness, its raw beauty, its natural light. A truly magical place to call home."
❤ Chapel Porth, St Agnes.
Tom join’s our Property Management team having spent many successful years working in the Cornish hospitality industry. Tom’s diverse gastronomic CV includes running Bustopher Jones on Truro’s delightful Lemon Street before joining the Rick Stein empire heading up the flagship Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. Moving back to Truro he launched Mustard & Rye, a gourmet junk-food inspired American diner with it’s own Prohibition-themed late night Speakeasy cocktail bar upstairs! After some serious studying which earned him a prestigious Diploma in Wines & Spirits, his next venture saw him dip his entrepreneurial toes into the world of fine wine. “The Cornish Vintner” was born out of a love affair with wine stretching back to his early restaurant days, and allowed him to offer professional wine consultancy to private and business customers here in the South West. The wine tasting continues to this day but a new adventure beckons with Cornish Horizons and the exciting world of holiday letting. Covering the North Cornwall area we cannot wait to have Tom broaden our palettes in more ways than one.
"I have been involved in the holiday trade since I was 12 when my school holiday job was in our neighbours B&B..."
❤ Treyarnon Valley
I have been involved in the holiday trade since I was 12 when my school holiday job was in our neighbours B&B where I was waitress, chambermaid and bottle washer until I left school! I have been so lucky to grow up by and remain close to the best place in the world - Treyarnon Bay. I joined Cornish Horizons in 2002, eventually becoming a property manager about seven years ago and more recently the quality assessor for Cornwall. I am at my most relaxed with sand between my toes or swimming in one of the nearby coves. I love walking, swimming, reading and gardening. I have many favourite views, but the one I see every day is from my garden overlooking Treyarnon Valley towards St Eval Church and Bear Downs.

I’m Helen, Homeowner assistant in the property team for Cornish Horizons based in Padstow. Although originally from London my love for Cornwall developed in my early years when I would holiday every summer with my family. Having lived in Australia and traveling Southeast Asia, New Zealand, Tasmania and many other places along the way. I returned to Cornwall, as it’s a beautiful place to live. “Born in Cornwall and raised on a farm near St Issey, I’ve spent my weekends and summers growing up helping my parents with their own holiday cottages”
❤ Watergate Bay
Born in Cornwall and raised on a farm near St Issey, I’ve spent my weekends and summers growing up helping my parents with their own holiday cottages and loved seeing our guests so excited to explore our surroundings. Despite living away while studying for my degree in Business Management and Tourism and spending 7 months backpacking around Asia, Australia and New Zealand the sandy beaches and yummy pasties always draw me back and I will always consider Cornwall as my home. In my spare time I love beach walks and finding great places to enjoy a coffee with a view!
"It’s my love for travel and passion for beautiful homes which makes me perfectly placed in our marketing team."
❤ The coastal path between Polzeath and Daymer Bay
Born and raised in Cornwall, I have lived and worked here my whole life and joined Cornish Horizons in 2012. When I'm not working on the mammoth Cornish Horizons marketing task, I enjoy walks on the beach, spending time with friends and family and discovering new parts of the world, some of my favourite destinations include Vancouver, Florida and Austria. It’s my love for travel and passion for beautiful homes which makes me perfectly placed in our marketing team. My favourite horizon is walking along the Coastal Path between Polzeath and Daymer Bay with my springer spaniel, Molly.
"I enjoy travelling to new parts of Cornwall... to put my flair and creativity to good use."
❤ Constantine Bay
I've been with Cornish Horizons since 2005 working in the accounts department and also doing all the property photography. Last year, however, I made the move to Marketing and now have the chance to put my flair and creativity to good use. Still doing photography, I enjoy travelling to new parts of Cornwall. My favourite horizon is Constantine Bay, near Padstow.
"I have been spoilt my entire life - truly privileged and lucky to have lived in Treyarnon Bay, Cornwall."
❤ Treyarnon Bay
I have been spoilt my entire life - truly privileged and lucky to have lived in Treyarnon Bay, Cornwall. Only a 5-minute walk to the beach. I enjoy a lot of walking and taking photos this is aided greatly by the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastal paths, my favourite walk with my dog Reggie is from home across to Harlyn Bay and back around Trevose Head, passing by Mother Ivy’s, Booby’s, Constantine and Treyarnon Bay. If you are lucky enough you will spot some dolphins, seals and various birds depending on the time of year.

"I love exploring Cornwall and finding out all that my homeland has to offer..."
I love exploring Cornwall and finding out all that my homeland has to offer (including but not limited to: the amazing array of food!) and travelling to places on my “need to see” list. I feel that I am very lucky to live in such a beautiful county and through work to be discovering new places. My favourite horizons are from the points at Treyarnon Bay near to where I live and my new found love of Polruan.
"I love this area of Padstow because I was born here and have never wanted to leave."
❤ The Padstow Estuary
Obviously I love this area because I was born here and have never wanted to leave. I have always lived near Padstow. My favourite place has got to be the Estuary. On the Padstow side, I have always loved walking out to Tregirls. My sister and I used to go out to Tregirls beach for a swim after work. Many evenings have been spent meeting friends there for Beach Games and chatting around a fire (not strictly legal) and I was so happy when my eldest daughter and her friends started to do the same. One of my favourite walks is on the other side of the Estuary from Rock out to Daymer Bay. The view is stunning with boats sailing with their red sails, on a hot day it feels like you are abroad somewhere exotic and I would not want to live anywhere else.
"I enjoy taking my daughter Isabella to the beach and to the Eden Project. I love spending time at Fistral beach and biking with family along the Camel Trial."
❤ Fistral beach, Newquay
As a child enjoying playing in the winding streets of Polperro with my sisters. I grew up by the sea, however I now live in Liskeard. When I’m not working in the Looe office I enjoy attending a running club and have done some lovely coastal runs, especially around Polperro where the scenery is breath-taking. When I’m not running, I’m scouting out the best pasties in the area! I enjoy taking my daughter Isabella to the beach and to the Eden Project. I love spending time at Fistral beach and biking with family along the Camel Trial. It’s also fun to go up to the open space of the moors where we can enjoy flying kites on a breezy day. I’m looking forward to being able to explore other areas of Cornwall as my daughter gets older and introducing her to the many lovely coastal walks available to us.
"Having moved down here 2 years ago from the midlands I never get tired of seeing the sea on a daily basis."
❤ Perranporth Beach
Having visited Looe and Polperro for many years, I have many happy memories of crabbing, ice creams and chip pinching seagull escapades during my childhood! Having moved down here 2 years ago from the midlands I never get tired of seeing the sea on a daily basis, and watching the hustle and bustle of the working fishermen whilst working at my desk in the Looe office. As a keen crafter, photographer and summer Looe Pirate, I enjoy beach combing, wandering around the winding streets of Looe entertaining tourists, and doing local craft fairs along the quay side. So far, my favourite horizons are from Perranporth beach and the Beach Café at Seaton, which is where you may well find me on a sunny day!
Fowey Team Leader
“From travelling around the world on huge cruise ships looking after 3,750 passengers I have now dropped my anchor in Cornwall, my beautiful home.”
❤ Duloe Village
I was lucky enough to be born and raised in Porthcothan Bay in Cornwall. I studied Tourism at Plymouth University where I was focusing my studies on the economic impacts that tourism has on Looe and the wider area. I have since had jobs in hospitality such as Rick Stein and Bedruthan Steps Hotel and recently working on board the Regal Princess which features on the ITV show ‘The Cruise’. You would probably find me watching the cruise ships come in and out of The Fowey Estuary – Yes Fowey! It is fascinating to watch the ships manoeuvre in such a small amount of space. I also like to go for walks on the North Cornwall Coast and I also like to try a stay fit by running the camel trial as and when I can.
